Brimley State Park provides recreational opportunities along the beautiful shore of Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay. One of the oldest state parks in the Upper Peninsula, Brimley features fishing, boating, camping and hiking.

From I-75 take exit 386 and come to M-28 heading west for seven miles. Intersection of M-28 and M-221 turn right for two miles. Come to 6 Mile Road, turn right, go three-quarters mile to park entrance on left.

Brimley State Park’s campground has a beautiful, sandy beach on Lake Superior. And because its located on Whitefish Bay, the water tends to be a little warmer than the rest of Lake Superior. It is not warm by any stretch of the imagination though! The restroom facilities, while not new, are all up to date and well kept by the staff. While not known for hiking, the park does have a few trails that meander through the Upper Peninsula Forest. Brimley has a nice pavilion you can rent out for family functions and also has fishing access.

You could spend well over a week touring the Eastern U.P.!  Brimley State Park is an excellent base camp to go visit Sault St. Marie, Tahquamenon Falls and St. Ignace/Mackinac Island. All of these locations around one hour away.

The campground is nestled right next to the village of Brimley, which offers a few restaurants to choose from. If you are looking to escape for some adult time, Bay Mills Casino is just three miles away.

Just outside of Brimley is Port Iroqois Lighthouse, a MUST do! The lighthouse keeper, Gilly, and his wife, make homemade fresh cinnamon rolls on the weekends. Gilly will explain the history and importance of the lighthouse to guests. Often you can see large freighters in the distance from here. Monocle Lake is also in the area. It’s off the beaten path just a bit, but well worth it when you arrive. Many people visit the U.P. to experience its raw, natural beauty and its quiet, pristine forests. Monocle Lake is just this. If you enjoy some time to yourself away from the crowds, this a great place for that. Be sure to visit Wilcox Fish House for one of the best fish dinners you will ever have.
